Personality:
Teti is standoffish to those she does not know, and can flit from one person
to the next with a fickleness than makes the head spin- She is never
deliberately cruel, but often does not think about how her actions affect
those who care for her. Drawn the to 'bad boy' types, she is submissive and
gets in trouble of many kinds simply for following where she should not go.
The only place she dominates is when she dances- the Lioness is almost
visible then, her dancing is as aggressive and dominating as she is herself
submissive which sometimes gives others the wrong impression. Teti has never
lived away from home before and like a cat who has had the hose turned on
her- not too happy to be where she is. History:
Born in Egypt to a wealthy family, Bastet Massri was named for the ancient
cat goddess. Her family assumed she would become Regina, as her mother had.
However that was not her fate. While Teti showed her love of dance early, her
parents realized before she started to wear the hijab, that in all likelihood
she would be a beta as an adult. Even while her everyday existence was that
of a conservative young woman, she became famous for her belly dance, and
designed her own costumes beginning in her teens. Her parents spared no
expense on her education or her needs. Despite their conservative religion,
they spoiled her, and gave her far too much leeway, accidentally attributing
submissive with well-behaved. With few strings and fewer consequences, Teti
fell in with the wrong crowd- over and over. She never lied to her parents
about her antics- they were not only her honored parents, but also her
beloved Alphas. Her very honesty gave them pause on more then one occasion- a
wild sensual girl is not acceptable in Muslim society. Neither an alpha or a revolutionary, Teti managed to put her
entire pride in danger simply by not being more careful about her 'playmates'
and the games they had her play. The most recent incident was nearly the end
of the entire pride. She was involved in a robbery with a young vampire at
the home of one of Egypt's most ancient human families. While the family is
human, they have strong ties to the government and- unknown to Teti and the
young Vampire, stronger ties to the Ancients Who Reign the Night. The robbery
brought her to the attention of the right wing conservatives as well as the
Master of Cairo. Her father had to pay a blood debt to the Master and pledge
a fealty he had previously avoided for decades to spare the entire pride. Since blood and products made of blood are not allowed to
Muslims, the Family with Ancient connections wanted to make sure Teti was
destroyed, to keep their ties to the Master a secret- as a blood drinker he
is unclean even though he is ancient. They demanded that the Pride turn Teti
over to the locals to be stoned to death. The listed charge was her sin of
flaunting her body as a dancer, and her wild behavior in the conservative
world she was supposed to live in. In a last-ditch effort to keep his wayward daughter safe, her
father called a couple he knew in America asking for assistance. Tequila
Rocha's parents vacation in Egypt and have known the Massri family for
several years. During an early visit to Egypt, Tequila's mother fell ill and
while searching for a doctor that could see a Regina, They met the Massri
family and found they had much in common despite a difference in religion and
nationality. Having so much in common, the two couples visit each other
regularly and write often. Their children have never met- Tequila does not go
on vacation with her parents. The Rochas volunteered their daughter, thinking
it would be a good challenge for Tequila as well as a good solution for the
Massri family. Her father and mother expect her to return home when called,
and are hoping to arrange a marriage for her, when the outrage in the
preternatural community dies down. She is unhappy about being sent away, and
while she will not challenge her new Regina, she will probably not go out of
her way to make it easy for this new person either. Strengths: she
is very aware of her own body- as a dancer while she is not extremely thin,
she is sleek muscled, and can feel the subtle changes of her body that signal
a shift. She is light of foot, and when happy seems to almost dance instead
of walk. she is hard to upset, and loves the company of other shifters- any
kind will do. She is an extraordinary dancer. Weaknesses: She
is by nature very subservient. She will be at risk from the unscrupulous, and
needs someone to keep her safe. At the same time, she is drawn to the risky
Alpha bad boys. She does not see humans as equals, and underestimates them
all the time. She is not above using sex, or the promise of sex- to get what
she wants. Quirks:
When Teti is talking, she often drops her head so that her hair falls over
her face, like a veil that she then looks through. She is new to this country
and her views are colored by the news she grew up with, and Hollywood movies.
Since arrival she has stopped wearing the hijab (veil over her hair). She is
a practicing Muslim and follows the diet, meaning she does not drink alcohol
or eat pork, among other things. Other: her
native language is Masri,(Egyptian Arabic) her English tutor was European, so
her English has a British accent. She also can speak a passable German,
although it is heavily accented. She has very good computer skills due to her
private tutors and time left by herself in her room with her laptop. |
