Appearance: Hair the color of a tigers pelt is the first thing that you notice about Shand. Her hair is long, often kept loose, hanging past her hips. It is fine hair, silky to touch and is colored like her fur, a dark orange in color. Yes, dark orange. She is a Born Tiger, to one of the pure blood Amuk clans. Having been born with lycanthropy, her hair and eyes are that of her tiger shape. Her eyes are a soft copper gold, much like the traditional tigers eye stones. Her eyes are set in a face that is best described as striking with her flawless pale coffee skin and high cheekbones.

She is comfortable wearing anything, however has a preference for loose fitting clothes, similar to the traditional Indian womens garb.

Personality: Shand is a strong willed woman- once she makes up her mind she usually sticks to it. You have to have a good argument to change her mind, however this doesn't mean that she is going to argue for the sake of arguing.

She is a person who will and does take charge, a natural leader who is willing to utilize the people around her in order to solve problems. She faces things head on, whether it be a fight, a performance or her mother.

This isn't to say that she is just a leader, or rather it is. She understands that there is more to leading then just giving orders. When with her Amuk, she loves to just snuggle, to mother her family.

While not apparent at first, she can have a temper, which she only shows around her closest companions. Once she looses her temper it is wise to let it just blow over. Or make her laugh. Either are the key to getting her rational again.

History: Shandrani is the youngest daughter of the Sita of the Indukala Amuk. Like all her close kin, her name reflects her standing in the born tiger community. She has three other siblings, two older brothers and her own twin sister. She is the youngest of them all. She also has various older first, second and third cousins, all of which make up the Amuk.

Her childhood was happy, relatively speaking at least. The Amuk ran a big cat breeding program, focusing on tigers. The Amuk themselves are all in the form of the Javan tiger, a sub species of tiger that, in its natural form, is thought to be extinct.

Hers was a happy childhood, filled with fun and laughter. Even as a child she was showing signs of being an alpha, in personality at least. She was the leader, even younger then most the others children, often taking them on adventures. The area was safe, since the Amuk owned the forest around the main house, which spread for miles in each direction.

Having been raised in a tight knit Amuk, she was brought up with certain beliefs, most of which, as she got older, she disagreed with. The most abominable, in her mind, was the way that the born tigers treated their infected kin. She also refused to breed with any of the males, having the intelligence to realize that continual inbreeding within the tiger colony would have much the same results as inbreeding in their natural cousins. Meaning that unless they got more fresh blood in, they would end up with more still births and fatal deformities in their infants.

By the time she was 13, she had already watched her one of her older cousins give birth to a babe that die soon after birth because of a fatal recessive genetic defect that was expressed because of the close genetic link between the parents.

Quite a few of the women in the Amuk were either unable to get pregnant or miscarried. Deciding she needed answers, she started to study genetics. What she found made her determined to never breed with any of her Amuk, at least, not unless they got a transfer in.

She continued in the Amuk, slowly making her way up in rank. It was clear from her first shift that she was going to be Alpha. She and her beast were finally one, and they loved it.

It wasn't till she was eighteen that she really started rising in the Amuk. She didn't particularly want such a high ranked position, however, she knew that it was going to be the only way to have some influence on bringing in new blood.

By the time she was twenty eight, she had the chance to hold the rank of Surpankha. Since the current king was her father, she split from the Amuk, taking on the role of Little Queen.

She had planned her journey, marking which areas of the US had a Kali or even a Sita in place. One of the few areas that she found Queenless was the New Orleans area. Even with the political unrest there, she still started to plan, organizing everything from her papers to contacting the Rama to apply to join. She had left out the fact that she was a blood tiger, and that she held the rank of Little Queen.

Strengths: Is able to partially transform at will. Can call other tigers beasts with sheer power alone as well as run her beast through them, forcing them to change using her beast instead of just power. Has spent the full moon night in human form because of the ability to piggy back her beast on another's. It has taken years of practice to do, however she is willing to teach other female tigers how to do it.

Weaknesses: She, because of her disagreement with some of the fundamental cornerstones of the blood tiger community, is unlikely to ever be accepted back into a Blood Amuk.

Quirks: Often carries a sketch book with her and a charcoal pencil. She draws some rather realistic portraits.

Other: As a Javan tiger, she is smaller in her shifted form then many non Javan tigers. It has no bearing on her temperament however.
