creating a hyena
There
are three ways to become a werehyena, one is common
and two are more rare methods. The most common method is to suffer an attack
from another hyena while it is in at least partial animal form and become
infected with the disorder; lycanthropy is never contagious in full human form.
While the virus is not as infectious as the ones for wolves or rats and it is
possible to survive an attack and escape infection, if significant blood is
drawn by a bite or claw, you are probably going to change. The virus is
apparent in the blood stream after 2-4 days. The less common methods of
infection are from a bad batch of lycanthropey
vaccine and by birth. These are both very rare. Most vaccines are heavily
tested to make sure the level active viral content is low enough to allow for
immunization and not infection, this method was more common in earlier years,
current vaccines are generally innocuous. Born werehyenas
are even more rare, it is very difficult for a female
to carry a baby to term, the monthly shifts throughout the pregnancy are
generally harmful to the fetus and most potential mothers miscarry in the first
two trimesters.
