Lion lycanthropy is pretty rare and not as contagious as say rat or wolf lycanthropy. You can get turned by being bitten or scratched. This is the most common way of infection. You can also become a werelion by recieving a bad batch of lycanthropy serum or through tainted blood in a transfusion (these are more rare). The most rare way is to be born a lycanthrope. This almost never happens except in cases of Snake or Swan lycanthropy, which is hereditary. Most other lycanthropes miscarry during pregnancy.
