tiger terms

The terminology of the were-tigers is strongly linked to ancient Indian Myth. The Avatar of one of their gods was Rama. His wife was Sita and together they were forced out of their kingdom by Bharata, Rama's stepbrother. Rama's true brother Laksmana went with them. Along the way Surpanka, a Demon, tried to seduce Rama away from Sita but he refused her. Their greatest enemy, Ravanna, tried to destroy them many times, but with the add of their allies, lead by Hanuman, they prevailed. They eventually returned to their kingdom, Ayodhya, and took of its rule. The term Lankaire, comes from an ancient myth in India about the city of Lanka. It was said that men and woman who stayed in this forbidden city after dark on a full moon would be changed into tigers.
